Kan's Awesome Music and Traditions Entry

HEY Y'ALLLL! HOW Y'ALL DOIN'!!! I'm gonna cut straight to the chase; I want to talk about a piece performed at the previous Lessons and Carols. This song in specific was called the 'Huron Carol'. This piece was performed by the women's chorale!
listen 2 it right now ♡:
Okay so let's talk about this piece! This is probably my most favorite choral piece that I have done EVER. Not to be #different but I actually prefer christmas songs that aren't way too jolly. I think that slower, minor key pieces are the best. The composition of this song is absolutely beautiful! It's in SSAA (which i was happy about becasue Dr. Jones was allergic to SSAA for half of fall term. No I am not being mean ♡). But anyways, the harmonies in this piece were gorgeous and meshed together so so so so well. AND GET THIS; ALTO'S GOT THE MELODY AT SOME POINT!! NAME WHEN THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED BEFORE THEN!!! (you can't. so don't try.. bing bong). But, I thought it was such a unique piece to include in the program! I was very happy to have the opportunity to perform it.

Now I want to talk about weddings! I have been to quite a few weddings in my lifetime and every time I hear this specfic song and every time I yawn (mentally). We have all heared it before; you're probably humming it to yourself or in your head right now! (say yes)
But anyways, listen ๐ฉ๊จ︎๐ช:
ENOUGH!!! PUT IT DOWN! I understanddd it's a wedding, it's cute, it's romantic, blah blah. BUT GIRL THERE IS OTHER SONGS!! I think personally, it's just a bit corny. There is something about the melody that annoys me, and it is so so overused. I also think that the bride she be accompanied with something a lot more elegant and pretty when walking down the aisle! This is just giving Lifetime movie, respectfully.

Let's finish on a more positive note, shall we? I want to talk about my graduation! WHOOP WHOOP ๐ฅณ So in 2023, I graduated from Dorman High School! I was apart of the lucky class that got to have their ceremony outside so I like to flex that ever so often (flips hair) But there is a tradition that Dorman does every single year and it brings happiness to me every single time I am able to witness it :)

YAYYYYYY THAT'S ALL FOR THIS ENTRY! I hope you all enjoy! :)
Hi Kanaria! I love listening to Huron Carol. It has such a sweet & gentle melody and I love that the altos get the melody. Also, I do agree that the Wedding March is soooo overused. Definitely think people should use other songs. Lastly, I love that you got to have Celebration at your graduation. I’m super jealous! Anyways, your blog is so pretty and your blog made me laugh!
ReplyDeleteHuron's Carol was toooo good. I really liked the dark tone in the piece and the alto lines were very interesting. Wedding March is so boring to me now because it is so popular, so I agree heavily with what you thought. The song choice for graduation was also too good. My graduation was too formal I felt.
ReplyDeleteHuron's Carol s very different from other Christmas pieces, but I completely get why you love it. It is really nice and beautiful. While Wedding March is overplayed it is still beautiful and iconic for weddings. I have never heard that whole graduation song before. I have only heard the chorus. I love that you included it because it gives me the whole song for future use.
ReplyDeleteHey Kanaria! I love Huron's Carol, It had to be one of my favorite from all of last years pieces. It definitely is different from other Christmas piece, but when listening to it all I can image is snow falling and just winter vibes. I also agree how the Wedding March is sooo over played. I'm sooo jealous that you got to have celebration played at graduation. If it was played at mine I just know I would be bumping
ReplyDeleteI first wanna say I love how your blog is set up, it's very pretty! I also LOVED the Huron Carol, it was such a beautiful piece and super fun to sing. I don't have much to say with Mendelssohn's piece, it is a wedding classic, but I don't blame you of getting annoyed by it. I also really enjoy celebration, it used to be one of my favorite songs a few years ago
ReplyDeleteHey Kan!! I totally agree with you about the wedding march!! Every time they ask me to play that piece, I always say "again" in my head. And it's because everyone wants it played for their wedding.
